I am also interested in buying your old-time radio premiums. If you have any decoders, rings, books, or other premiums,

"The Lone Ranger" first aired on WXYZ Detroit on January 30, 1933. It was not only the birth of one of the most successful radio programs of all time, but the beginning of the Mutual Radio Network as well.

There appeared to be a reluctance to offer premiums in the early years. But in 1938, a major Lone Ranger merchandising blitz began. General Mills became the national sponsor in 1941, and used the show to promote Kix, then Cheerios, and finally in the 1950's, Wheaties.

One of the most spectacular premiums was conceived as part of the show's 15th anniversary promotion - The Lone Ranger Frontier Town. It came in four sections. When assembled, the base maps covered nearly 15 square feet of floor space. To get each section, required a Cheerios box top and a dime. Additional buildings came on the backs of nine different Cheerios cereal boxes. For weeks, the radio espisodes centered in and around Frontier Town. Listeners could play along on their own Frontier Towns.
